Planting Seeds of Enthusiasm: Inspiring Middle School Students to Connect, Learn, and Grow

Through personal examples and experience, participants will learn how we engage students and retain participation in our yearlong Gardening, Landscaping, and Beekeeping programs. During this session, you will learn how presenters are able to recruit students to sign up, and how an instructor can operate these programs during peak and off-season times of the year.

During this session, instructors will engage participants in how they are able to:
  1. Identify key factors that influence consistent engagement and participation among middle school students.
  2. Apply strategies that encourage student ownership, leadership, and investment in club activities along with building peer/staff relationships and an inclusive environment. 
  3. Incorporate hands-on, inquiry-based, and experiential learning opportunities that spark curiosity and sustain interest.
